I think it is pretty safe to say that I have a vague idea of what I am looking for in a wedding dress. I’ve stopped watching Say Yes to the Dress because it created so much anxiety as I began to think there were no good wedding dresses that existed for under $5,000. And before all you blog readers say, “You are so cheap.” I respectfully will tell you to, “suck it.” But respectfully.
Here is the deal…I cannot get past the basic mathematics of it all. My mind immediately calculates how much the dress costs me per hour to wear. And, I refuse to wear a dress that costs more an hour than an attorney. Yes, I want to look beautiful and pretty and all that floofy stuff…but I certainly don’t expect spending an exorbitant amount of money on a dress to create all that magic for me. I am also relying heavily upon professional hair and makeup, lighting, sucking in my stomach, putting all my weight on my back foot and not my front foot in pictures and the open bar.
So far, I am out of my league. All of the dresses I love, are of course, way to expensive for me to ever be able to justify. For me to be able to spend so much money I would have to:
A. be able to live in it.
B. Be able to eat it.
C. Be able to have my future children (even the boys) wear it for all their formals at schools as well as their own weddings (yes, again, even the boys)
Okay, that said here are a few dresses that caught my eye…what else caught my eye, is the really strange way they pose the models. Seriously, I know a lot of pictures will be taken on the day of my wedding, but it is pretty safe to say that none of them will catch me in any of these strange poses. Why are all bride poses seemingly pissed off or hungry looking? Come on models, you are getting fake married…lighten up!
Yes, I know what you are thinking, “wow, she leads with not wanting to spend a fortune on dresses and then she closes with Vera Wang!” Yes, I sure did because they are pretty…expensive but pretty and I like to look at them.

Hello! I have been looking at your blog for a couple weeks now and think it’s wonderful! I got married last May and still enjoy looking at wedding ideas. My grandmother made my dress, modeled after a Oscar de la Renta gown. So, if you know a seamstress, that’s the way to go! Good luck!
ps. I like the dress on the second row, far right. I’m a minimalist
Thanks so much for looking, I always love to hear from the people that read my blog, not to mention, that it makes me feel good to know I interest people other than my mom to read my posts
I agree, a seamstress would be awesomeI wish I knew someone…I can only sew pillows so I am out of the running.
