crafty brilliance – mason jar makeover

Considering I sold a custom crafted doll cabinet, with delicately hand carved birds that was lovingly stained over the course of one week for a measly $100, I was baffled to find that the light blue mason jars at the local flea market were $8-$20 each! And, when I tried to bargain the price down, the woman looked at me as if I were standing in front of her naked wearing rabbit ears and Crocs. If you too feel like you’ve been blindsided that these mason jars are priced as a national treasure bequest to us by our forefathers you will love to know that you can make these blue mason jars yourself! From, get this, the cheap jelly jars you can buy in bulk at your local grocery store by a small investment of $3.99 for a bottle of Vitrea! I know, amazing.
Using Vitrea 160, a transparent color for glass, in a shade called turquoise and mixing it with a little Vitrea thinner you can achieve the same drool worthy color at a much more realistic expense.
