About Me
My name is Stacy Catherine Sanchez. And as of October 16, 2010, my name is Stacy Catherine Hunt. Normally I don’t use my middle name but my grandmother, Gammie recently passed away and her middle name is also mine. If you have read about my grandmother, or if you have ever met her, you would understand my need to hold onto anything and everything that reminds me of her. From her old china cabinet, to her wedding ring and now her middle name.
I am married to a super nerd, he prefers geek, Paul. We live in Orange County in a place that Paul and I are happy to call home. I like to keep it tidy and organized townhouse (thanks to the O.C.D I inherited from my mom) and Paul likes to see how many coffee cups he can hide around the house before I demand he puts them in the dishwasher. I have dreams of one day owning a home and, given our government’s inability to manage money and our financial industries poor stewardship and predatory behavior towards the general population, one day soon I may obtain that dream. Paul and I met on-line almost over a year ago. My on-line dating journey was interesting and tough to admit publicly but since it brought me such an amazing man, I feel it isn’t fair to keep it under wraps. If you are single and can muster enough strength to have an open mind and go on dates with a couple douchebags in order to find your prince, I highly suggest the journey.
I have two adorable fluffy boys, Jack and Charlie. Jack is a border collie mix and is almost 10 and Charlie is some sort of Terrier and he is 5. I adopted Jack as a puppy from the shelter after he was found abandoned in a shopping mall. Jack is one of the smartest dogs I know, whose intellect is often blocked by his insatiable appetite. He eats anything from paper towels, to Paul’s wallet and sometimes things that are actually meant to be edible. I adopted Charlie when he was a little less than a year old. He and I met on the day he was going to be put to sleep. Even though he was scruffy, snarling at me and hallowed by starvation, he had the sweetest eyes and I knew that with enough love, he would come around. It only took a matter of months to transform Charlie from a dog that snapped at people and hid under tables to a dog that loves people so much that he has no regard for personal space. His scruffiness however, remains.
I grew up in the same community I recently moved back to and find it increasingly frustrating that nothing is how I left it. Houses, apartments and shopping malls now cover all the fields I grew up playing in. I live in one of the safest and cleanest communities in the nation and often times don’t lock my door at night just to tempt fate.
I wasn’t particularly stunning as a child and pre-teen, which meant my days were filled with torment and my nights were filled with me wishing for the distant future. While it was a tough road it made me into the sarcastic and rough around the edges butterfly I am today and has provided the material for some pretty interesting stories.
This blog was started to give me a chance to write, something I love to do but don’t do nearly enough. Recently, Paul and I got married and my blog has morphed into being mostly about this new phase in my life. Sometimes I cook, do stand up comedy and travel. ..and sometimes I just like to complain about feeling fat, lost, trapped or being broke. I hope something here compels you to read along as I stumble through life.
I love life, my family and my friends, eating healthy most of the time and other times I love to eat anything sugary and salty. Sometimes, strike that, most of the time I say things just for the punchline and not because it is something I really think. This is not a trait I recommend for everyone as it results with you having an all too familiar taste of your feet. On rainy days I have the desire to stay home, build a fort and watch movies all day long, but I forge on and join the world of adult responsibility…albeit begrudgingly.
