Oh the damage I could do with this bad boy!
A Silhouette SD Digital Craft Cutting Tool and costs about $200 (imagine I say that how Ralphy in the Christmas Story recites about wanting a Red Rider BB Gun). However, here is why it makes me sad:
- software is PC only Mac users need a plugin
- for some, may have to buy shapes through the Silhouette store, but they are inexpensive
- only cuts up to 8″ wide (if you cut the 1/4-1/2″ wider they claim it can, you have an indented line from the wheels)
- loud
- lint and pet hair clings to the cutting mats pretty easily. They are hard to keep clean, but still work fine when dirty like this
But here is why it makes me happy as a 4th grade teacher who just got a new themed Reindeer Christmas sweater with light up Rudolph noses:
- I can make my own designs
- not much else to buy after the machine except cutting mats and paper
- can cut very long designs
- small and light, super easy to store
Not to mention you can make cool letter cut banners like this
Doesn’t it sound absolutely lovely!

As I get older, my dream of owning my own business only grows stronger. My Etsy shop business is picking up and my very dear friend and I are talking about taking the plunge and starting a small side business in event production and design. With any hope, one day we will be so busy and successful at it, that we can do it full-time. Now, one would say I am too far away from this becoming a reality to already have my theoretical office decorated, but I do. In case you were wondering it will have these chairs where clients can sit comfortably,
And I will be sitting in front of them in this chair,
and I will be sitting across from them at this table:
Or maybe one that looks like this:
I haven’t yet picked out my craft area furniture, give me until the end of the week and I am sure it’ll be done. Here’s to dreaming!

What better way to be green than to make something beautiful out of something that would otherwise be thrown away? I adore these light bulb terrariums, so much so that I cannot wait for a light to burn out in the house so I can make one!
