Halloween Treat

I love Candy Corn and I have evidence; see exhibit A:
Candy corn is the perfect delectable mix of wax, corn syrup and sugar. A good candy corn blend will not have too much wax as to make it appear foggy, and it will not have too much sugar-making it appear chalky. The perfect candy corn is vibrant in color with a hint of translucency. October is the best time of year, solely because it is when candy corn is in full bloom at the grocery stores and the magical candy corn pumpkins (my favorite!) appears in the holiday section. So, with such a deep love of candy corn, seeing a candy corn cheesecake made my heart all aflutter! Thank you, Wilton for this magical cheesecake recipe!
Instructions:
step 1
Prepare 2 mixes of cheesecake batter following package directions. Prepare 1 crust and place in bottom of pan following package directions.
step 2
Position Batter Dividing Ring in pan. Fill center ring with batter to 1/4 in. from top of ring, level with top edge of pan. Tint remainder of batter yellow. Fill outer ring with batter. Tint remaining yellow batter orange and fill middle ring. Smooth each section with spatula dipped in warm water. Carefully remove ring and smooth again with spatula if needed. Refrigerate following package or recipe directions.
step 3
*Combine Lemon Yellow with Golden Yellow for bright yellow shown.
a costume fit for a potato

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Jami called me and was all, “Hey, could you make Marlee her first Halloween costume?” and then she was quiet for a minute and was all, “Nah, nevermind, you are probably too busy with the wedding.” And that is when I was all, “Well, that depends….what were you thinking of Marlee being for Halloween?” And that is when she replied, ‘either Chewbacca or a baked potato.” And that is when I decided, come hell or postponed wedding, a costume that awesome is worth making, no excuses!
So yesterday, after a quick trip to Joann’s, a few purchases of brown and green felt, fabric glue and batting…I began making a potato for my adorable muse. And, if I do say so myself, she looks cute enough to eat!
Happy Halloween!

It.s Halloween time! As Sue Sylvester puts it, “Halloween, when little boys dress up like little girls and little girls dress up like whores.”
Ah yes, Halloween time, or as I like to call it, “free candy time”. I am not a big fan of costume parties, there is something demeaning about dressing up as an adult baby, and barfing in the bushes in costume. There was a time when I did enjoy Halloween parties. Dressing up is sometimes fun. But, you know what isn’t fun? The walk from the house, to the car and then the “in costume walk”, 5 blocks to the party. That is the un-fun part.
I do love other parts that Halloween brings refer back to previous mention of free candy. Also, I love pumpkin carving, watching the great Pumpkin Charlie Brown whilst pumpkin carving, and drinking apple cider from my new kettle from Williams-Sonoma, that Paul and I only had to get married to own. It was a small price to pay for such an amazing little gadget.
So to recap:
It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown + pumpkin carving + cider + awesome kettle + cute hubby = great way to spend a Friday night
