Gocco Love

How I made it this far in life without ever owning a Gocco, I have no idea! Seriously, I just got my Gocco in the mail today and already I have fallen in love. In short, a Gocco is a Japanese personal silkscreener and it is rare and close to extinction so the only ones you can find are used ones in the US or semi-used and new ones that live in Japan. Mine is imported straight from Japan for the ungodly shipping price of $50 BUT it is slightly used so I got it for about $100 less than a brand spanking new one, so it all evens out. Here is why the Gocco is so awesome:
1. It is super clean. I have a Yudu and every time I use that bad boy, I am left with ink in my hair, on my teeth, under my fingernails and any other crevice that silkscreen ink can make its way into.
2. There is no emulsion to deal with. The worst part of silkscreening is dealing with the emulsion on screens. Emulsion is hard to apply, costly to buy and just an utter pain to have to deal with. No emulsion means souch an easier and quicker process.
3. It is super fast. Those Japanese have it down! Seriously, I made my first little project in a matter of seconds and it came out super clean and crisp on my first try! That is next to impossible to do with the Yudu.
Here is why it is not perfect, though still awesome:
1. It has a small image area. The Yudu has a large image area around 12×12, but the Gocco is much smaller ringing in around 3.5×5.
2. It’s semi hard to find supplies for the Gocco. If you want to buy products for this guy, you need to know how to use the Web, which I am sure you know how because you are reading this blog.
And that’s all I can think of for the Cons. I love this little guy and I am sure we will be making wonderful little crafty magic together. Here is my first project which is already listed on Etsy~

I have developed quite the thing for Scrabble tile artwork. It started during my wedding when I incorporated them into our escort cards and table numbers and grew from there. There is something whimsically playful about weaving them into decor.

So, a you can imagine I am obsessed with these Scrabble Tile Art pieces from 15 Tangerines on Etsy, how cute would they look hung over my couch? I’ll give you a hint, SO CUTE!
Etsy Project – Wedding Invitations

Months ago a girl from Canada emailed me on my Etsy site about doing some custom invitations for her. Through many emails we came up with a unique invite that I hope she is thrilled about. Besides being super sweet and adorable in emails, Allison has been a joy to work with, which is exactly the kind of bride I love working with. I think the invites came out nicely and are a mix if vintage flair with flea market appeal. They ship out on Monday to Canada, AYE!
