DIY – Family Photo Wall
November 3rd, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Want a fun way to capture your wedding guests? Try making a photo hall where your family and friends can ham it up and give you photos that you will cherish for years to come. Our photo wall was pretty simple to make. Mostly because Paul and his uncle did all the heavy lifting. I got to do the fun part of hanging the photos on the wall.
Materials
- 2 pieces of 4×8 wood
- 2 hinges
- 32 square feet of wallpaper
- wallpaper adhesive
- misc sizes of frames
- larger frames for posing
- Paint (optional)
- Heavy duty velcro
How to DIY
- Cut your pieces of wood to their desired size (we used the full 4 feet span across but cut them to 6 feet high)
- Place your large frames where you would like them to be positioned on the wood, trace them at the innermost part of the frame
- Using an electric saw, cut out the stenciled frame
- Wallpaper the two pieces of wood and paint the back of the photo wall (optional)
- Allow to dry overnight
- Affix velcro to the wallpapered side of the wall where the frames will be hung
- Hang the larger frames first and then decide where you want the smaller frames to go
- Hinge both pieces of wood together on the backside of the photowall so it fold inwards – that is why velcro is important to use to that you can easily fold the photo wall for transport
- Affix a brace to the back of the photo wall for extra support if necessary
