Virtual Guest Book

When planning our wedding the biggest debate we had was whether we would have a videographer or not. Paul was firmly on Team Videographer while I was on Team Save Money. To me, photos were enough and having cheesy video of people fumbling through a real live congratulations while a creepy videographer blasted a bright light onto their face urging them to, “Say something to the happy couple” was unappealing. So, when I finally relented and we hired a videographer, my only request was that they stay in the background and never engaged our guests in awkward on camera moments. Luckily I did relent, because the video from our wedding is amazing and the company we hired shot some of the best footage and I have since joined Team Every Wedding Should Take Video. Mind you, I am still very against the on-video guest messages because they are often forced and awkward, but I stumbled upon a brilliant idea from Thrilled For You a video guest book that allows your guests to be awkward on their own schedule.
How cool is it that you can choose from a handful of background templates like these:
All you need to make the magic happen is a front facing iPhone or iPad and you can incorporate the video however you like. Now if only these things came with a breathalyzer before they recorded, they would be perfect!

So many times viral has a negative connotation….but in this instance, I am so happy that pieces of my wedding and work have gone viral on Wiley Valentine:
