Mason Jars

January 26th, 2010 § 1 Comment

I am in love with mason jars and wild flowers.

One, because they are awesome, duh!

Two, because they are inexpensive.  Unless of course, you are looking in an overpriced antique store in Orange, in which case they are very expensive.  Especially the blue ones.

Three, because they will look best in an outdoor rustic wedding, which is coincidentally exactly the kind of wedding I’ve got!

And here is why I love our wedding coordinator, Jesi Haack

When I met with Jesi she asked me, who is your florist?” and I said, “Me.” to which she replied, “No you’re not.”

And then she said, “Who is your baker?” and I was all, “Me!” Though this time with less enthusiasm. And she said, “Uh, NO YOU’RE NOT.”

Here is the thing, besides being super crafty, meticulous and sweet as can be…Jesi is good enough to say no to me only because she has my best interests in mind.  Her point is this…it’s my wedding and while I could definitely pull off baking for 150 people and while I could reasonably trek up to LA and buy flowers and make them look pretty on a table in mason jars…I cannot do so for my wedding.  To do so would mean unneeded stress, loss of sleep, grouchiness and not fully enjoying one of the best days of my life.

So, I will not be baking and I will not be floral arranging but I will have mason jars…this I know for sure.

Dream Homes

Here are the places I want to live in order of importance:

1. The house that Meryl Streep lives in, in Somethings Gotta Give closely followed by the house she lives in, in It’s Complicated. Seriously, movie Meryl Streep has the best taste and luck in houses.  In each movie she is a single woman living in a home that is way beyond comprehension.  I will not question it though because she is Meryl Streep and you don’t question Meryl Streep!

2. The Father of the Bride House.  This house is actually in San Mateo which was up the street from where I use to live.  I contemplated breaking into the house, because you know that place has old timey windows which would be cake for a first time criminal.

3. The ocean house in Nights in Rodanthe minus all the clutter of gypsy crap.

4. The house that Susanne Summers lives in….serisouly she has the most amazing garden and for dinner she is all, I feel like a radish salad, and she puts on her rubber boots and floppy hat and then goes in her yard to get the radishes.  I do have concerns that my irrational fear of grasshoppers would get in the way of my becoming a serious gardener able to successfully grow my primary food source.

Basically I want to live in a house that looks just like this:
